Information you provide directly. When you make a purchase, create an account, or contact us, we may collect your name, email address, and payment information. Payment details (such as your credit card number) are collected and processed directly by Stripe — we do not store your full payment details on our servers.

Information from third-party accounts. If you authenticate using a third-party service such as GitHub or Google, we may receive your name, email address, and public profile information associated with that account. We only collect the information that the third-party service makes available to us and that is necessary for account creation.

Usage Data. When you visit the Website, we may automatically collect information such as your device's IP address, browser type and version, the pages you visit, the date and time of your visit, the time spent on each page, unique device identifiers, and other diagnostic data. Essential cookies are required for the Website to function properly, including authentication and session management. These cannot be disabled without breaking core functionality. Analytics cookies help us understand how visitors interact with the Website by collecting information anonymously. We may use a privacy-friendly analytics tool to collect aggregated, non-p{ersonally-identifiable usage statistics. Preference cookies allow the Website to remember choices you make, such as theme preferences, so you don't have to re-enter them on each visit.

You can instruct your browser to refuse all cookies or to alert you when a cookie is being sent. However, if you disable essential cookies, some parts of the Website may not function properly.

4. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect for the following purposes:

To process and fulfill your purchase, deliver access to the Product, and provide you with order confirmations and related communications. To create and manage your account on the Website. To communicate with you, including responding to support requests, answering questions, and sending important notices about the Product such as updates or security alerts. To improve the Website, including analyzing usage patterns, identifying issues, and making the experience better for all visitors. To protect against fraud, unauthorized access, and other security threats. To comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service.

We do not use your information for automated decision-making or profiling. We do not send unsolicited marketing emails. If we ever introduce an optional newsletter or marketing communications, you will be explicitly asked to opt in and can unsubscribe at any time.

5. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties. We share your information only in the following limited circumstances:

Service Providers. We use third-party services that process your data on our behalf to operate the Website and deliver the Product. These include:

Stripe, which processes payments. Stripe collects and handles your payment information according to its own privacy policy (https://stripe.com/privacy). GitHub, which hosts the private repository you receive access to upon purchase. Your GitHub username is used to grant you access. Resend (or your chosen email provider), which sends transactional emails such as purchase confirmations and support replies. An analytics provider (if applicable), which collects anonymized usage data to help us understand Website traffic and behavior.

Each Service Provider is bound by their own privacy policies and only receives the minimum information necessary to perform their function.

Legal requirements. We may disclose your personal information if required to do so by law, or in response to valid requests by public authorities such as a court order or government agency. We may also disclose your information if we believe in good faith that doing so is necessary to protect our rights or property, prevent fraud, protect the personal safety of users or the public, or comply with a legal obligation.

Business transfers. If hourzero.dev is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your personal information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you before your personal data is transferred and becomes subject to a different privacy policy.

6. Data Retention

We retain your personal information only for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes described in this Privacy Policy. Specifically:

Account and purchase information is retained for as long as your account is active and for a reasonable period afterward to fulfill legal and accounting obligations. Transactional records (such as proof of purchase) are retained for the period required by applicable tax and accounting laws. Usage Data is retained for a shorter period and used only for internal analysis, unless longer retention is required for security or legal purposes.

When your data is no longer needed, we delete or anonymize it. If deletion is not immediately possible due to backup systems, we ensure that the data is isolated and protected from further processing until deletion is feasible.

7. Data Security

We take the security of your personal data seriously and use commercially reasonable measures to protect it against unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, and destruction. These measures include using HTTPS encryption across the Website, storing data with reputable infrastructure providers, limiting access to personal data to only those who need it, and relying on Stripe's PCI-compliant infrastructure for all payment processing.

However, no method of transmission over the internet or method of electronic storage is completely secure. While we strive to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security.
